Areas of Practice

Criminal Charges

Whatever you’ve been charged with, we can help.

Criminal law is a challenging and complex area of the law, that require specific knowledge and skill. With 10 years of experience working in the area of criminal defence, Kim has the training, experience and passion to tackle even the toughest of cases, including seeking remedies for Charter breaches, advancing complex defences such as Entrapment, and even representing clients in less-common circumstances such as with charges under the Customs Act, the Aeronautics Act and CBSA Offences.

We accept a full range of criminal cases, including Drug Offences, Weapons and Firearms Offences, Proceeds of Crime, Violent Offences (from Assault to Murder), Robbery, Fraud and Theft.

Constitutional rights

Through practicing criminal defence, Kim regularly advocates for remedies for individuals whose rights under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms have been violated by the authorities. this experience has given us broader interest in constitutional law generally, and recently we have filed a Notice of Constitutional Challenge to legislation under the Criminal Code of Canada.

minority language rights

Raised by an anglophone mother and a francophone father, having attended school in both official languages of Canada, Kim has always been proud to be bilingual. It wasn’t until moving to Alberta that the reality struck her, that the freedom and flexibility to use either official language of Canada is not as wide-spread as she’d experienced in Ottawa. She does her best to ensure clients know their language rights, particularly when it comes to pleadings in court, and fights to ensure those rights are upheld.
